One in five families in DC and nearly one in 10 families in Maryland are living in poverty.

Catholic Charities works on the front-lines of poverty in the DC-region, opening doors to help and hope. Every day, for more than 80 years, we provide food and shelter, education and employment, and hope and dignity to our brothers and sisters in need.

Last year we provided emergency assistance and long-term support to tens of thousands of people in need throughout the District of Columbia and Montgomery, Prince George’s, Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s Counties in Maryland.  And each night of the year, we provide shelter for 1,300 people.

We address every type of human need without regard to race, religion, color, creed or nationality.
