Cristo Rey Charleston High School will be the 42nd Cristo Rey High School Model in the United States and will open its doors to the founding freshman class in August of 2027.  We have a bold vision: to give hardworking students from communities underrepresented in higher education a clear pathway to college and career success.

Through our unique model, students spend four days in the classroom and one day each week working in the Tricounty area for top companies through the Corporate Work Study Program. They earn most of the cost of their education while gaining real-world skills, confidence, and purpose.

Cristo Rey Charleston High School is a college preparatory Catholic high schools for students of all faiths. We exclusively serve students with limited economic resources through a unique funding model that integrates a rigorous college preparatory curriculum with a professional work study program.

 HOW YOUR GIFT CAN MAKE AN IMPACT:

Cristo Rey schools in other cities have been changing students’ lives for over 30 years. It is time that Charleston has a school focused on JOY & PURPOSE. This year, we are setting a $20,000 goal for Giving Tuesday! These funds are critical to assist us with the expenses associated with getting the school renovated and open by August 2027. We are relying on your generosity to help make this school a reality, not a dream to so many students who otherwise could not afford a Catholic education. 

WE HAVE A GENEROUS MATCH!

To help us reach our goal, a generous couple has pledged a $10,000 challenge gift that will be unlocked as we hit key milestones throughout the campaign. And here's our commitment: if we reach this goal, we will use these funds for those students that cannot cover a small portion of their tuition to be 100% sure they are still eligible to attend our school. Currently, we ask students families to cover a small portion of their tuition. With your support, we can remove that barrier entirely, making education and professional work experience a true gift for every student.

Results are clear at so many Cristo Rey Schools: math proficiency is rising from 43% to 84%, language arts from 65% to 84%, and 100% of students are attending colleges and getting full scholarships to attend colleges. Cristo Rey students nationwide are twice as likely to earn a bachelor’s degree as their peers.
