Protecting What Matters Most — Our Children

At Holy Rosary, next to education, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. Our campus is filled with laughter, learning, and faith — and we want to ensure it stays that way by continuing to strengthen our school’s safety measures. 

🚨 Blessings and Progress So Far 
In the past year, we’ve been blessed with several major safety upgrades and campus improvements: 

• New Fire System: A state-of-the-art fire panel and new intercom now protects our school, complete with additional speakers, flashing emergency lights, and a multitude of alarm pulls throughout campus. 
• Security Fencing: Thanks to a generous GOHSEP Grant of $140,700, our campus is now fully enclosed with secure fencing and six emergency gates equipped with panic bars — simple to exit, locked from the outside. 
• Classroom Door Replacement: Holy Rosary has been awarded a $36,000 Louisiana School Security Grant to replace old classroom doors in the play area with metal, self-locking doors, giving students and staff enhanced security and peace of mind.
  

🚪 The Next Project: Our Cafeteria 
One of our final projects is the cafeteria, where the current glass doors pose safety and privacy concerns. 
Our plan is to:

• Phase 1: Metal Entrance & Exit Doors (approximately $15,000)
  • Replace all entrance and exit doors with durable metal doors. 
  • Doors will feature panic hardware:
    • Automatic locking from the exterior
      Easy exit from the inside without a key 
  • These doors will provide immediate security while ensuring safe evacuation in an emergency.
• Phase 2: Cafeteria Wall Replacement  (approximately $24,000)
  • Replace the current sliding glass doors with a solid wall. 
  • Constructed with: 
    • Cement board, Insulation & Finished interior walls 
  • Benefits:
    • Enhanced security by removing fragile glass access points
      Improved privacy for students and staff 
      Durable, long-lasting solution for a safer cafeteria environment

👮‍♂️ Proactive Campus Protection (approximately $8,000)

In light of recent tragedies across the nation, Holy Rosary has also taken steps to increase on-site security. We have partnered with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, hiring a deputy to monitor our campus and church grounds on Mondays and Fridays mornings. 

This proactive measure comes with a considerable cost. While our children’s safety is priceless, it is an expense that was not previously included in our budget.
