The Ignatian Volunteer Corps® (IVC) provides mature men and women with opportunities to serve others and to invest in their own spiritual formation.

Will you provide spiritual fuel for our hardworking, generous and compassionate IVC service corps members?

Based on 2024 National IVC Impact Studies, for each $1 you donate to support our program, an IVC Service Corps Member c provide $7 in human resource value to one of our partner agencies!

IVC works in partnership with local community organizations who provide Ignatian Volunteers with impactful and, compassionate work serving individuals who are experiencing poverty. Volunteers are strengthened in their Christian faith by IVC’s unique spiritual reflection program, which is rooted in the Jesuit tradition of Ignatian spirituality.  Volunteers also meet monthly as a group for community, conversation, and prayer.

By contributing their leadership skills and life experience into service, IVC volunteers improve their communities and create a more just society.

While IVC has been connecting mature volunteers of faith with one another and with vulnerable populations for 30 years, IVC opened in New Orleans in July of 2019. Twenty-four area volunteers now serve at local organizations around Orleans and Jefferson Parishes!   New Orleans is one of the fast-growing regions in IVC.

Funds raised through iGiveCatholic will be used for the Spiritual Program that spiritually feeds and sustains our Ignatian Volunteers. This critical component of IVC provides each service corps member with:

  • Discernment support to identify God's call for their service
  • A copy of the program book we read and discuss each month; this year, that’s Cherished Belonging by Fr Greg Boyle.
  • A full day opening retreat in September.
  • One-on-one meetings each month with an IVC Spiritual Reflector.
  • Group meetings each month to pray and reflect as a community, which include guest speakers to discuss issues of poverty.
  • An overnight closing retreat in June.

The Spiritual Program is so important to IVC because it helps our service corps find God in their work and encouragement and experience from each other; with this support they can keep enthusiastically ministering to the poor in our community through our partner agencies.

Please help to support this ministry and resource for our Greater New Orleans community by making a generous donation today!

Remember that there is a match opportunity available for the first $2250 dollars. Hurry and make your gift today to get double the bang for your philanthropic buck!
