St Augustine School

A nonprofit organization

Founded by free men of color and emancipated slaves in 1858, St. Augustine Catholic School was launched four years befoe there was compulsary public education of black children in Washington, D.C. Located at 15th & V Streets, N.W., our school serves nearly 200 children in PreK3 through 8th Grade. We prepare our children for success at some of the top local high schools, such as Archbishop Carroll, DeMatha, Don Bosco Cristo Rey, Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts, Georgetown Visitation, Gonzaga, The Heights, St. Anselm's, St. John's, and Sidwell Friends. Our afterschool activities include American Sign Language, Chess Club, Dance Ministry and Fencing Club.
