Renewal, from the Roots

At VSI, we teach Latin and Greek in support of the evangelizing mission of the Church. Every student who studies at VSI represents a seed of renewal for Catholic culture and Western civilization. From the language of the Church’s liturgy and theology to the foundation of our shared intellectual heritage, Latin and Greek lie deep at the roots of our faith and our culture.

On Tuesday, December 2nd, VSI will participate in #iGiveCatholic, the National Day of Catholic Giving. Our need is even greater than years before, as we have expanded our reach this year through direct support of universities and seminary formation. We invite you to join us by prayerfully considering making an early gift today.

Goal

With our "Renewal, from the Rootsend-of-year campaign, our goal is to raise $25,000 towards supporting our students.

  • $50 — Equip a Student for Success

Provides digital course materials, readings, and learning aids for one student for an entire year of Latin or Greek study.

  • $250 — Bring the Classics to Life for a Student

Supports immersive live instruction, tutorials, and conversational Latin sessions that help students move from studying Latin to truly using it.

  • $500 — Support a Future Latin Teacher

Assists VSI’s first declared majors, who plan to teach Latin in Catholic secondary schools, with the resources they need for advanced coursework and teacher preparation.

  • $1,000 — Strengthen a Seminarian’s Formation

Helps provide linguistic training for a seminarian preparing for future priestly ministry, enabling deeper access to Scripture and the liturgy.

  • $2,000 — Fully Sponsor One Student’s Formation

Covers the entire annual tuition subsidy VSI provides for each of our 132 students, ensuring no one is turned away for financial reasons.

  • $3,500 — Support a Future Catholic Educator

Provides aid for a student committed to teaching Latin after completing VSI’s major and teaching credential—helping renew Catholic education from within.

  • $5,000 — Help with our inaugural launch of VSI Press, by funding one of our first book titles to go to print in 2026.

Supports seminarians, religious, and lay teachers who will carry the treasures of Latin and Greek into universities, schools, and communities.

Impact

Your support makes that renewal possible. Each VSI student receives an average $2,000 subsidy toward their formation, keeping tuition affordable for priests, seminarians, religious, and lay students alike. This year, we are forming 132 students from around the world (a 20% increase from last year!)—each preparing to bring the wisdom of the ancients to new life in the Church and in the world.

Among them are our first two declared Latin majors, both discerning vocations as future Latin teachers who will serve in Catholic secondary schools after completing their teaching credentials. They represent the future of Catholic education—a generation equipped not just to teach a language, but to hand on a living tradition.
