Affordable Housing Fund

A nonprofit organization

Affordable housing is one of the most urgent needs in our region, and it is the main social service priority of Archbishop Rozanski and the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Catholic housing agencies are responding by not just providing housing, but by helping families and individuals achieve stability and independence.   The Annual Catholic Appeal Affordable Housing Fund was established to help these agencies build more affordable housing throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Since its launch in 2024, this fund has awarded over $2 million in grants, helping to create 142 new affordable housing units. Here are examples of this work:

  • St. Joseph Housing Initiative, with two grants totaling $200,000, is renovating four single-family units which will be sold to first-time home buyers who have completed their home readiness course.
  • Catholic Charities of St. Louis has been awarded two grants totaling $760,000. These grants are assisting Catholic Charities with two flagship housing developments. The first is a 60-unit affordable housing complex in Troy, Missouri. The second is a 10-unit temporary housing development in Festus, Missouri.
  • Peter & Paul Community Services (PPCS) has been provided two grants totaling $300,000. These grants are assisting with the renovation of 25 individual apartments on PPCS's new North St. Louis campus.
