Honoring Our Shepherd, Archbishop Michael G. McGovern

One year ago, Archbishop Michael McGovern began his ministry as Shepherd of the Archdiocese of Omaha and already, his leadership is bearing fruit across northeast Nebraska.

Through the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, you are helping strengthen parishes, form students in our Catholic schools and expand ministries that serve those most in need. Together, we are building a Church that is vibrant, faithful and growing. Under the leadership of Archbishop McGovern, the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Omaha is bearing fruit that will strengthen our community for years to come.

The Archdiocese of Omaha welcomed more than 600 people into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil: those being baptized and those being received into the Catholic Church. We see many people, especially our youth, receiving the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation and soon many children will receive Jesus Our Lord in First Holy Communion. Archbishop McGovern reminds us that "The strength of the Risen Christ helps us to fulfill the mission of sharing the Gospel with the whole world."
