Carmelite Monastery of Jackson

We, the Carmelite Nuns of Jackson, are in need of your support to help us in the maintenance of our 70 year old monastery that stands on Yazoo clay and to sustain our small community of religious sisters in our day to day living.  We are most hopeful that your generous support of our Ministry of prayer through the iGiveCatholic fundraising campaign will help us continue to exist in the Diocese of Jackson.

Who We Are

We, the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of the Carmelite Monastery of Jackson, (or Jackson Carmel) are a small community of religious nuns situated in the Home Mission Diocese of Jackson, Mississippi since 1951. Our Carmelite calling is in the tradition of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. We believe that our contemplative presence in the Diocese of Jackson is of vital importance in bringing about God's people to be one Church and in witnessing to others God's unfailing love and mercy thru our hidden life of prayer and sacrifice, silence and solitude. We are here to pray for the needs of Our Mother Church and our Diocese in particular. In Carmel we say, "On Carmel's heights, by day and night, someone prays for you."
