Before they were priests, they were ordinary men. They were young boys that played on the family farm, teenagers who participated in sports and went to prom. They were young men who served in our nation’s military, traveled the country and went to college.
And then one day, God called them to be more. He called these ordinary men to do extraordinary things.
In the Diocese of Salina, we are blessed by the ministry of 63 priests, 11 of whom are currently retired. And while the retired priests are no longer serving in a parish setting, they did not cease being, “father".
As Catholics, each of us has been impacted by a priest in some way. Priests provided us with the sacraments, taught us in school, consoled us in our grief and rejoiced in our joys. At every turn of life, we could always rely on the friendship and ministry of our clergy.
And now, it is our turn to serve our priests.
The Clergy Care Fund of the Diocese of Salina is designated to, recruit, train, educate, support and care for our priests at every stage of their vocation, from the beginning to the end.
Your generosity to the Clergy Care Fund makes it possible for our diocese to offer guidance to the young men discerning the priesthood, support the current active priests who are ministering in the parishes and in the Catholic schools, and provide peace of mind to our beloved, retired priests who have stepped away from parish duties.
Thank you for your care and support of our priests. May we pray for them as they have always prayed for us.
