The first Cursillo weekend in Erie occurred on Thanksgiving weekend in 1963, when 17 priest and laymen who had completed the Cursillo weekend in the Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio. The first Erie Cursillo for men was at St. Michael's Church. The Cursillo weekend is a three day retreat that consist of mass, prayers, learning activities, meals, jokes and private conversation with a Priest or Deacon. Since then over 250 Cursillo weekends have taken place for men and women in the Erie Diocese. The Cursillo weekend is an opportunity to enrich one's faith, and deepen one's relationship with God and others in your family and community. The goal is to bring people to Christ. The mission of the Erie Cursillo Movement is to ignite a passion for God.

Who We Are

Cursillo in the Erie Diocese has been bringing people to Christ for 63 years. It is a method of Spirituality that starts with making a weekend and continues the rest of your life. It's goal is to help people develop a real and dynamic relationship with our Lord. The format used helps them continue to grow that relationship no matter where they are at spiritually.
