DoC Clergy Leadership Development

The Diocese of Camden is taking a bold and unique approach to further develop the leadership skills of its clergy by making significant investments into their professional development. Each priest is unique and unrepeatable, and the intention is to support each priest to lead through his own gifting, while continuing to further contribute to his existing skills. As society moves with lightning speed toward the secular, away from a deep faith and relationship with Jesus Christ, it is important our priests are well-equipped to lead and shepherd in these challenging times. This fund's purpose supports opportunities for executive coaching, workshops and classes, and skill-development. The ultimate goal is that each priest be celebrated and affirmed for who he is and that his leadership talents are uniquely his own. The leadership development journey provides the priest the chance to unlock and unleash his God-given talents.  With each offering, he will recognize strengths, patterns of motivation and a deep understanding why Jesus needed him to be his priest.  By highlighting and affirming priests in God's intentional design, they are better equipped and positioned to lead in the current culture. These investments create an environment for all the priests to flourish and find a deep sense of satisfaction in their priesthood, their work and their engagements in the day-to-day.

The Clergy Leadership Development fund will continue to explore and pilot opportunities that are beneficial to the clergy.  Your financial gift makes you a collaborator enriching the priesthood so each may lean into every challenge and embrace his vocation - so he may thrive, grow and serve in every ministry to which he is called.  

To date, all priests who have experienced the executive leadership coaching initiative have recommended all priests in the diocese have this same opportunity to develop and grow. As of this month (November 2024) we now have the opportunity for all priests to have this experience. We are in the next phase of development of offerings that will have impact. Hence, we are seeking the financial means to ensure we can continue to provide these opportunities for the clergy without whom we, the laity, would receive the sacraments.
