PRESERVING THE OLDEST CATHOLIC RECORDS IN THE UNITED STATES

Did you know the Diocese of St. Augustine is proud to be custodians of the oldest Catholic records in the United States - records dating back to 1594??

It is both a privilege and a great responsibility to care for these unique and historical collections, which include:

  •  letters from historical figures – including Pope St. John Paul II, St. Katharine Drexel, and General William Tecumseh Sherman
  • historical sacramental registers beginning in 1594
  • paper and digital records from all our bishops
  • photos and architectural drawings from our parishes and schools
  • artifacts, relics, vestments, sacred objects, and more!

Your generous gifts will be used to preserve our archives in perpetuity, so this valuable and important Catholic history will remain for all to see. All gifts will build our Archives Endowment Fund at the Catholic Foundation, a sustainable and perpetual source of funding...

So our preserved archives can continue to tell the story of Catholics in North Florida for generations to come.
