Holy Child Parish

A nonprofit organization

Holy Child Parish was established on September 15, 1962, on the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, by Archbishop Byrne. Holy Child Parish just celebrated its 60th anniversary.  With seven Missions brought under it's umbrella, the Parish covers over 300 sq. miles, with those seven Missions forming a "Cross" intersecting State Hwy 14 and Old Rte. 66.  Holy Child Church in Tijeras is at the center of this cross!

Originally, Holy Child Parish was housed in a tiny adobe structure built in 1912 along Old Rte. 66.  In 1971 volunteers constructed our present church; in 1987 they built the rectory, in 1996 they built San Jose Hall and in 2004 Blessed Miguel Pro Hall.

The church increased its seating when it was able to use the religious education rooms inside the church which was made possible because of the newly built Halls.

This Giving Tuesday, our church is asking for donations to be able to purchase a few items for the Parish Office.

1. Fireproof safe for the sacramental books (approx. $600)

2. Fireproof filing cabinet for all of the Marriage files & other important papers (approx. $4500)

3. carpet for the Parish Conference Room (approx.

4. Vanities for the Parish Bathrooms (approx.

We are asking that you prayerfully consider giving this year to #iGiveCatholic

Every donation counts, no matter the amount,it all brings us closer to our goal.

Who We Are

Archbishop Byrne established the parish on September 10, 1962. The first pastor was Fr. John Fitzgerald. The original church was named Santo Nino and made of adobe. The present church was constructed in 1971.

Holy Child Parish is located in the rural community of the east mountains about 15 miles east of Albuquerque. The parish covers 300 square miles and includes 7 mission churches. The worship of the people of Holy Child Parish is full of great reverence. The church increased seating when it used the religious education center built next to the church. This was possible because of the multipurpose Religious Education Center built next to the church. Archbishop Michael Sheehan dedicated the new Religious Education center on September 22, 1996.
