Jesus the Divine Word- Huntingtown

Jesus the Divine Word Church is a Catholic community of faith centered on the Eucharist and committed to bringing Jesus to others. We pledge to: Evangelize by word and example; Reconcile with God and one another; Invite others to discipleship, and guide each member to service of the family, the Church and the world, all for the greater glory of God.

The year 2024 marks our parish’s 30th anniversary as a Catholic Community in Huntingtown.  It also marks the twenty-second anniversary of the dedication of our church. On arrival one of the first images seen is the figure of the Prodigal Son.  This sculpted figure represents the theological basis for our parish, awakening all who prepare to enter the doors to the gift of divine human reconciliation.  Entering the church one’s eyes are immediately drawn to the sanctuary with its white ambo from which we listen to God’s word, the altar of sacrifice from which we receive the Lord’s sacred Body and Blood, and the sculpted crucifix with the right arm gesturing toward the consecrated gifts on the altar.  The church was magnificently designed and built to be our home for many years.  Unfortunately, not everything installed for worship lasts forever.   Currently, we are on borrowed time with our sound system.  It needs to be replaced.  If it fails before we can replace it, we will need to “steal” from the parish hall, but that system is also not what it once was.  Our goal for this year’s i-Give Catholic Campaign is to raise enough money to replace our beautiful church’s sound system, and we hope your help to this year’s campaign will make it happen. 

As a community of faith centered on the Eucharist, we are committed to bringing Jesus to others, while also growing in our faith through liturgy, prayer, education and service.  Our growth, though, depends on the generous time, talent, and financial support of our parishioners and friends.
