The Ge’ez Rite Ethiopian Catholic community in the District of Colombia is a small cell of the Catholic Church, but a significant part of the global Catholic family. The Ethiopian Catholic community is dedicated to serving God, our parishioners, and our Church. Our community has a lot of challenges. Most members are non-native English Speakers and hence are subject to a lot of new experiences in life. However, our community has huge social capital in its faith, hard work, and togetherness, that can help us to cope with those challenges. Having a building of our own--a church and related facilities--will help us to exercise our deep-rooted faith, by offering bi-lingual children education, community support, marriage counseling, young and youth ministry, several adult ministry and without stressing constantly about time and space limitations. The focus is securing a place where the community can worship God and provide the aforementioned community services without compromising its Faith tradition -- the Ge’ez Ethiopian Rite.

Welcome to Kidane-Mehret Ge’ez Rite Ethiopian Catholic Parish iGiveCatholic page. We are based in the Archdiocese of Washington, where we were established in 1984 as a parish for Ge’ez Rite Catholics.
Our mission is to build a Catholic Church that welcomes everyone, a church that carries the "Trinitarian Mission", which is the mission of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and a church that preserves our faith and pass it to the next generation.
