Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary: Faith in Action, Service with Purpose

The Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary (KPC) is the largest and oldest historically Black Catholic lay organization in the United States. Founded in 1909, the Noble Order is headquarted in New Orleans, LA and is the only Catholic Fraternal Order offering membership to the entire family through its six divisions.

Inspired by the life and legacy of St. Peter Claver, our mission is to promote civic and social justice, foster educational opportunities, and engage in charitable works that strengthen families, parishes, and communities.

For more than a century, KPC has been a beacon of faith and service, empowering men, women, and youth to live out the Gospel through action. Our members—organized into councils and courts across the country—work tirelessly to address the spiritual, social, and economic needs of underserved communities while upholding the principles of Catholic teaching.

Our Mission: To serve God, the Church, and our communities by fostering unity, charity, and justice through faith-driven initiatives that uplift the marginalized and promote human dignity.

Our Vision: A world where every person has access to opportunity, equity, and spiritual growth, supported by a vibrant Catholic community committed to service and justice.

What We Do: The Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary engage in a wide range of programs and initiatives that reflect our commitment to faith, family, and community:

  • Faith Formation: We strengthen Catholic identity through retreats, liturgical celebrations, and spiritual development programs for members and their families.
  • Education & Scholarships: We provide scholarships and educational resources to students, particularly in historically Black Catholic schools and colleges, ensuring access to quality education.
  • Social Justice Advocacy: We champion causes that promote racial equity, criminal justice reform, and the dignity of life, standing against discrimination and systemic injustice.
  • Community Service: From food drives and health fairs to disaster relief and housing assistance, we respond to the needs of our neighbors with compassion and action.
  • Youth Development: Through Junior Knights and Junior Daughters programs, we mentor young people, instilling leadership skills, moral values, and a commitment to service.
  • Health & Wellness: We address health disparities in African American communities by promoting awareness and providing resources for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and sickle cell anemia.

Why Your Support Matters: Your gift during #iGiveCatholic helps us continue our mission of faith and service. Donations directly support scholarships for deserving students, outreach programs for families in need, and initiatives that promote justice and equality. Every contribution strengthens our ability to respond to urgent needs and invest in long-term solutions that transform lives.

Our Legacy: For over 115 years, the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary have stood as a testament to the power of faith in action. We are proud of our heritage and committed to building a future where love, hope, and justice prevail.

Join us in making a difference. Together, we can continue to serve God by serving others—spreading love, bringing hope, and changing lives.
