Maryhill Renewal Center

The ongoing maintenance of Maryhill Renewal Center is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the Diocese of Alexandria and all who use it.

Recently, it has become urgent to explore the expansion of the Priests' Cemetery located just inside the Maryhill entrance.  Currently, the cemetery is 60 X 80 feet.  Seventy-nine priests are buried there.  Plans are ready to increase the size to 60 X 160 feet.

The priests' cemetery was originally located at Kees Park in Pineville.  In the 1950s, the cemetery was established at Maryhill and all of those buried at Kees Park were exhumed and relocated to the new Maryhill cemetery.  The oldest grave at the Maryhill cemetery is that of Fr. Leonard Menard, 1854-1930.

The cemetery expansion project will involve groundwork, fencing, retaining walls and sidewalks.
