Notre Dame Sisters

For more than a century, the Notre Dame Sisters have faithfully answered God’s call to serve, guided by our charism, a deep commitment to reaching out to those with unmet needs and fostering compassion, justice, and peace in our communities.

This year, in a spirit of gratitude for all that God continues to do through our ministries, we invite you to partner with us during the Nebraska Catholic Day of Giving. Your generosity helps sustain the outreach of the Notre Dame Sisters, including two ministries that change lives every day: Safe Homes and Notre Dame Housing.

Safe Homes provides critical financial assistance to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. Through this program, the Notre Dame Sisters help survivors and their children move toward stability and independence by covering essential expenses that often stand between them and a safe new beginning.

Safe Homes works in partnership with caseworkers from approved agencies who recommend clients who have demonstrated a strong potential for independence. The program serves as a final safety net when other resources have been exhausted, ensuring that survivors have the support they need to establish a safe and secure home. The Safe Homes program also stays connected with survivors during the crucial first year after leaving a shelter or transitional program, helping ensure long-term stability and success.

Your support also strengthens Notre Dame Housing, a ministry that provides safe, affordable housing for older adults and individuals living on limited incomes. More than simply a place to live, Notre Dame Housing creates a community where residents can age in place with dignity and support. Through access to wellness programs, social activities, educational opportunities, and a Life Enrichment Center, residents are able to remain active, connected, and engaged while maintaining their independence.

Together, these ministries reflect the Notre Dame Sisters’ enduring commitment to compassion and justice, walking with those who are most vulnerable and helping them build lives rooted in dignity, safety, and hope.
