Omaha Catholic TeamMates

A nonprofit organization

Omaha Catholic TeamMates is a chapter of the TeamMates Mentoring Program (aka TeamMates).

TeamMates was founded over 35 years ago by Tom and Nancy Osborne and is a school-based, one-to-one mentoring program serving boys and girls in 3rd through 12th grade. TeamMates has served more than 50,000 students since the program began in 1991.

The focus of the mentoring relationship is for an adult volunteer to build a positive relationship with a student and help them reach their full potential.

TeamMates of Omaha Catholic Schools' mission is to positively impact the students within the Archdiocese of Omaha Catholic Schools by helping to form each child's mind, body, and spirit, so he or she can become the person God intended.

Here is how your gift can make a difference to our students:

  • $50 funds one background check.
Safety is our number 1 priority and a core value.
  • $500 funds one match per year.
Every dollar donated to TeamMates of Omaha Catholic Schools goes directly towards our current and potential mentor/mentee matches by providing mentor training, special events, recruitment events, school coordinator support, and chapter coordinator support.

In addition to your financial support, we also invite you to prayerfully consider becoming a TeamMates of Omaha Catholic Schools mentor.

Right now, there are students in 3rd to 12th grade in our Omaha Catholic Schools who are looking to build a relationship with a caring and trusting adult like you.

Here’s how it works.

  • Visit https://teammates.org/be-a-mentor/apply/ . On your application, note that you would like to be a mentor in the Omaha Catholic Schools chapter.
  • Once you complete the application process, your background and reference checks clear, you attend a short TeamMates training, and you attend the Omaha Archdiocese Safe Environment training or are already Safe Environment certified, you are then matched with a student mentee based on common interests.
  • You then meet weekly with your mentee for 30 minutes to an hour at school to talk, play a board game, read a book, build Legos, work on a craft, or go on a walk – it’s that simple!

One of our current mentees makes the best pitch of all - see his thoughts here:
