Our Lady of Guadalupe parish is a diverse, welcoming Catholic community rooted in West Seattle. Led by the Holy Spirit, we gather in prayer and live as disciples of Jesus Christ. United in our core values, we serve our community and care for all God’s creation.
Our Values are:
- Stewardship – We root our vocation as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ in stewardship. Through our time, talent, and treasure, we gratefully receive God’s gifts, cultivate them, share them lovingly, and return them in greater abundance to God and others.
- Liturgy & Prayer – We pursue a living relationship with God through full, active, and conscious participation in liturgy. We shape our community through prayer and our celebration of the Eucharist.
- Evangelization – We proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. We actively make the Kingdom of God present in the world. We continually form ourselves for this mission by growing in knowledge of our faith, remaining open to ongoing conversion, and joyfully sharing our personal experiences of Christ with others.
- Social Justice – We put our faith into action with compassion and love for all creation, particularly the most vulnerable and marginalized.
- Community – We welcome all people and offer everyone opportunities for encounter, connection, and belonging with each other, God, and the Catholic faith. We listen and create space for dialogue with each other and the larger community.
Our core values support our fundamental beliefs, guide our behaviors, and provide a framework for evaluating past actions and the formation or our conscience. When we faithfully consider, constituently follow, and prayerfully reflect on these values, we are better abel to hear where the Lord calls us to go and become who the Lord calls us to be.
