Welcome to Our Church

Our Lady of Lourdes is the Mother Church of African American Roman Catholics in Atlanta because of our special heritage: we were founded in 1912 with funds provided by St. Katharine Drexel as a mission to African Americans and Native Americans.

Our mission: Rooted in African American Catholic history, Lourdes celebrates the Living Word of God, embraces inclusiveness, and inspires social action.

Lourdes is seeking donations to support the safety and physical well-being of its parishioners.  Program Operation: The Catholics Practicing Responsibility “CPR” Program is aligned with the mission of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for Social Justice, Well Being, and Dignity of Black Lives. This initiative will be jointly led by the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Council/Court 300 and the Church's Health Promotions Ministry. The training of the CPR Emergency Response Team will be led by Nurse Joyce Layne Hickey, RN and a member of both KPLCA Court 300 and the Health Promotions Ministry.  Nurse Hickey is a certified CPR instructor and will oversee the CPR and AED program. Members of the Ministry and Court who wish to be a member of the Emergency Response Team will be trained.  A total of 12 individuals will be instructed on basic life support (BLS) CPR and AED administration.  These individuals will serve as a response team for the parish and be available for each of the Mass times throughout the year.  Following this initial session, ongoing basic life support CPR and AED training will be provided for additional members of the parish.
