Prairie Star Ranch

Prairie Star Ranch is a high adventure summer camp and retreat center in rural northeastern Kansas. Our goal at Prairie Star Ranch is to connect youth and families to Christ. Life-long discipleship is a challenging and adventurous pursuit and we strive to walk with our guests in their journey of discipleship and thus equip them to go make disciples themselves.

The missionaries at Prairie Star Ranch minister to retreatants of all ages by showing them the joy that comes through a life with Jesus Christ. We do this by facilitating activities, such as rock climbing, kayaking, archery, high ropes, swimming, and hiking. One of our projects for this year is gearing our gathering spaces more towards holy leisure---barriers are broken down and walls are lowered when having fun with others. To reach this goal, our team has developed a plan to transform our facilities with high quality games that will allow retreatant to grow fellowship.

Who We Are

Home to Camp Kateri Tekakwitha and some of the richest Catholic retreat programming in the midwest, Prairie Star Ranch serves as a ministry of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.

We understand how important it is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, and as such, Prairie Star Ranch exists to help the parishes and communities we serve in that crucial work.

Our job and vision is simple. The way we love Jesus is by helping our guests to grow as disciples of Christ, so they can make disciples for Christ.

Like all Christian disciples, the task of evangelizing all people constitutes our essential mission, it is part of our very identity.

At the Ranch, our Catholic faith, our mission, is to journey with you, our guests, in the challenging, life-long pursuit of Christian discipleship.
