Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Camden)

Sacred Heart Catholic Church #iGiveCatholic initiative for 2025 is to raise $2,500. Funds raised will help restore the stripping, rewaxing, and maintenance of the hall floors for church, community, and recreational events. Funds will also be used to purchase a new ice machine needed for use in the hall kitchen area. 

A Little History about Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Camden

The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Camden, MS is a vibrant Catholic Community founded on the tradition of the first mission of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity in 1944. It was initially established as a Church and Missionary School to evangelize and serve the predominantly African American community in the rural and segregated areas of central Mississippi. Along with Holy Child Jesus Church and School in Canton, as well as St. Anne's Church and School in Carthage, the Missionary Servants have been intrinsically connected to the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Faith-based education in our schools and churches at every site offered generations of young, struggling and discriminating African American families a strong foundation to improve their lives and become integral participants and leaders of the Church and their communities.   

Missionary Servants, Priest, Brothers and Sisters have provided amazing and creative ministry throughout these years with plans being made to strengthen outreach to the Latino community we serve in Carthage, Canton, Kosciusko, and beyond. With God's grace, Sacred Heart Catholic Church continues to be a community committed to praise through song, dance, and service. The church also plays a vital role in strengthening families and providing social support. Sacred Heart not only honors its elders on who shoulders we stand and value our youth as gifts of God, but it also actively engages in assisting families, providing a path out of poverty through educational initiatives, and offering support to the Northeast Madison County community.
