Saint John XXIII Home

A nonprofit organization

In 2021, Saint John XXIII Home celebrated 50 years of quality care for our elderly and infirm sisters and brothers of the Shenango Valley. Saint John XXIII Home is justifiably distinguished for its outstanding level of care, its beautifully maintained facilities and dedicated Board and Staff. It is truly providential that fifty years ago Bishop John F. Whealon, Bishop Alfred M. Watson, the Pastors and Catholic People of the Shenango Valley under the supervision of Msgr. Salvatore P. Mitchell who was appointed as liaison for Bishop Watson, had the vision to care for the elderly and infirm members of their community in an environment of beauty, faith and security. That vision was translated into brick and mortar and, under the inspired leadership of the Sisters of Saint Benedict it was given life with a spirit of love and compassion, spirituality and community. Throughout the years up to the present moment successive Boards and committed Staff have added new space and new services, thus continuing and updating the vision in the face of new needs and challenges. This living tradition of Christian love and service in action is what we particularly celebrate everyday at Saint John XXIII Home. The motto for the Catholic Charities system of offices is "To do all things with love" and this is made real in the life and ministry of the people of Saint John XXIII Home.
