MISSON STATMENT:

Though we worship at two locations, we are united as one Kent Catholic Community in Kent, Ohio.  Our mission is rooted in serving as a vibrant Catholic presence both at Kent State University and throughout the vast Kent community.  From baptism onward, through all the sacraments, we emphasize the importance of religious education, guiding our parishioners toward a lifelong commitment to faith and the richness of our Tradition.  With prayerful hearts and the diverse gifts God has given us, we strive to serve others while sharing the love and mercy of our Risen Lord.

OUR WORK TODAY: 

Today, under the leadership of Fr. William Kraynak, our Administrator and Fr. William “Will” Wainio, Parochial Vicar, our dedicated parish staff and faithful parishioners continue to make Jesus’ mission a living expression of our Catholic faith. As a parish we support many local students - those in our very own, Saint Patrick Elementary School - both also the students of Kent State University. St. Patrick Parish, part of our Kent Catholic Community,  continues to be a beacon of light for all those in the Kent, Ohio area offering daily and weekend Masses as well as supporting several different ministries and social committees within the parish. Each individual of Saint Patrick Parish is important to the faith life and vitality of the Church. Those who volunteer their time and talent are the life-blood of our parish. It takes the collaboration and the sharing of gifts on the part of many people to keep our parish active and instrumental in building the Kingdom of God in our place and time. Through the generosity of many people, we have numerous parish ministries which invite active participation. Listed below are the various ministries, organizations, committees and services provided by Saint Patrick Parish. By acquainting yourself with the work and purpose of these activities, it is hoped that you will find one or more ministries of interest that may be suited to your gifts and talents. Through the sharing of our time and talent, we become good stewards of the many blessings God has bestowed on us. As we look back on the 150 years since the founding of our parish, you are strongly encouraged to use your individual gifts to help build up and continue the mission of our Saint Patrick Parish community. Saint Patrick Parish is excited to participate in the 2025 Day of Giving to seek additional funding for our parish life, outreach ministries, and the support of our Catholic elementary school. Your generous contributions through #iGiveCatholic will directly benefit our parish, school, and wider Kent community.

This past summer, we've undertaken several important maintenance projects, including:

• $218,355.50 to completely replace our school roof which was iminent
• $9,840.00 to rekey the parish church and offices (safety & security)
• $5,950.00 removal of trees on parish grounds and improvement to the beautification of the parish & school grounds.

Looking ahead, we have more projects planned, such as:

• Upgrades to campus (church, rectory, and school) security with new cameras 
• Continued maintenance of our church/school buildings (school is in need of repairing walls, painting & upgrading floors)
• The continued formation of our Young Adult Ministry and Youth Ministry programs.
