St. Isidore Catholic Church

St. Isidore Catholic Church in Abernathy, Texas was established in 1966; the Parish Rectory in 1983, Parish Hall 1985, and the Christo Shrine in 1997.  All total the properties are valued at $3,346.00.  Over the years, due to rain and natural decay on the parking, with high traffic morning, noon, and night, especially with the Christo Shrine, it has become unlevel and badly floods every time it rains.  Unfortunately, with every new rain and increased traffic on the parking, it has begun to affect all of our Parish facilities, their foundations, and structural integrity.  Eventually, sooner than later, the buildings will begin to sink and become not be safe to be in or visit anymore.

People seek to view the Christo Shrine, the Marian Shrine and even visit the parish whenever they can, as we get visitors from all over the country.  There have even been reported great healings and increased faith by those who have visited the property.  Such as a young child who was not born blind, even though several different doctors had originally told his parents before he was born that he would never be able to see.  Or an individual who was deeply struggling with the faith and even questioned his importance and dignity within his life, before visiting, where he came and prayed, and then he was given the strength and encouragement to go back to Church and begin a relationship again with the Lord.  Finally, we get truck drivers, individuals, and family who stop to visit, and our facilities have been featured on various radio and television stations throughout the state and country.  

    After seeking the professional advisement and consultation from several contractors, the best way to fix and repair the parking lot is to have it completely taken up, releveled, and then rebuilt with new concrete and pavement, along with building a drainage system to redirect the water away from the parking lot itself and into a drainage outlet.  However, to do so, will be about $120,000, which is about or above our annual operating budget for the Parish.  It would be sad if visitors were not able to visit our Chruch and Shrines anymore.
