Support a Refugee Family

We hope that you will consider this opportunity to share your blessings with others. Georgia is home to over 50,000 resettled refugees from all over the world. Refugees are individuals who have fled their countries of origin and meet the United Nations’ criteria of having a “well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.” Catholic Charities Atlanta provides Refugee Services to refugee families arriving in the metro Atlanta area. The extensive resettlement services are designed to help refugees achieve economic and social self-sufficiency within their first six months in the United States. All families participating in this program have been screened by case workers at Catholic Charities Atlanta and need your help.

On October 24, the Saint Joseph volunteer team welcomed a family of four from Afghanistan. Generous members of our community welcomed the family by providing temporary housing, meals, groceries, and toys for the children. The family will be moved into permanent housing this month. With the upcoming move, furniture is needed for their apartment. As the mother and father start their search for employment, they both hope to continue the professional careers that they had in Afghanistan in law and government administration.

Please consider giving to this worthwhile cause this Advent season.
