IHM - St. Joseph Garden and Food Pantry Ministries

A nonprofit organization

Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Joseph Parishes in Austintown have committed themselves to alleviating some of the suffering of our neighbors who face economic challenges that threaten their food supply. Mahoning County has food deserts, places where it is hard to find good, healthy food at an affordable price. Many lower-income families are forced, due to lack of transportation or other reasons, to buy much of their food at convenience stores or dollar stores. The options are limited, and the food is usually of a significantly lower quality than what can be found at a full-service supermarket. This leads to higher rates of diet related illnesses for families who live in Mahoning County food deserts.

The IHM Food Pantry feeds hundreds of families every month, and the St. Joseph Vegetable Garden produced and distributed nearly 50 bushels of fresh, organic vegetable and berries last year. Some of the garden harvest was distributed through the IHM Food pantry.

The 2024 iGiveCatholic campaign gives every parishioner from each church an opportunity to be a part of these important ministries that serve so many people in need. You can give any amount this year, and the money you give will support the 2025 St. Joseph Garden and the work of the IHM Food Pantry.

Thank you for all you do and all you have done for years to participate in and support the church’s mission of serving those in need.
