St. Mary Catholic School

St. Mary Catholic School is the oldest continuously operating Catholic school in North Central Texas, founded by Fr. Pierre Levy in 1891. In 1902, four School Sisters of Notre Dame took charge of the school, and thirty-two students were enrolled that August.

The present St. Mary School building was erected in 1948 as the first major structure built in Gainesville after World War II. It was completely remodeled and air-conditioning was installed in 1979. A junior high wing was added in 1985, and in 1991 a gymnasium was built in celebration of St. Mary’s Centennial.

Thanks to the generosity of last year’s donors, we have made great strides in renovating our gym—and we are thrilled to share that it is now air-conditioned! As we continue to improve our facilities, our focus this school year is on supporting our student-athletes.

We hope to purchase new basketball uniforms for our teams, giving our athletes the opportunity to represent St. Mary with pride. With your generosity, we can reach this goal.
