St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church

St. Mary's Assumption Parish, Bronson, acknowledges the mission of Christ on earth and belief that our aim is to have God working through us.  As a Christian community, we respond to the call of Jesus Christ to love each other as Jesus loves us and to celebrate the Eucharist, so as to be strengthened to accept the responsibility to serve rather than be served.  Together we are committed to the spiritual, physical and educational welfare of those in our parish family and beyond.

At present, we face two significant challenges in maintaining the functionality of our facilities. 

First, the boiler which serves the gymnasium was installed in 1965, making it nearly sixty years old. Due to the advanced age of the boiler and the increasing difficulty in sourcing parts for repairs, replacement has become essential. While most boilers have a typical lifespan of 25-30 years, we’ve been fortunate that ours has lasted this long. However, the challenge of maintaining it is now compounded by the scarcity of replacement parts.

Secondly, this spring’s rain revealed a serious issue with our school’s roof, which was originally installed in 2000. While it has lasted 24 years, typical for its type, the roof is now at the end of its life. Fasteners beneath the rubber membrane have begun to pierce through, and thermal imaging shows that about 50% of the roof is wet beneath the surface. This moisture is causing the subsurface to degrade, and the roof, which currently has three layers, will need a complete replacement to comply with current building codes.

These two projects are critical to ensuring the continued operation of both our church and school, enabling us to provide a quality Catholic education for the youth of our parish, as well as fostering the spiritual growth of our entire faith community.
