Who We Are

St. Stephens Catholic Church, located in Cumberland, KY, has a long history in their community. Once, the home of a well attended Catholic School, the church now reaches the community in a different way.

St. Stephen Church is known not only by the people in Harlan County, but also in adjacent counties, because of its Food Pantry. With the support of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Lexington and of the generous donors, every first Thursday and Friday of the month, it distributes more than 200 food baskets to senior citizens and every third Thursday and Friday it distributes more than 400 baskets to families.

Each person is given a large food box containing breakfast items, fresh food items, fruits, canned foods, and frozen meat when available. This high unemployment county area is much dependent on the food pantry service.
