The Vigil Project

Music impacts the work of the whole Church— from liturgy to evangelization — because the way we sing as a Church directly affects the way we pray as a Church!

The Vigil Project invites you to join “1,000 Voices”, a movement to support the holistic renewal of Catholics praying in song. Over the next year — our 10th anniversary at The Vigil Project — you can be 1 of 1,000 people that come together to (1) pray with music, (2) grow in understanding of music’s role in faith, and (3) support The Vigil Project’s renewal efforts in homes, parishes, and dioceses locally and around the globe.

Your voice – as part of “1,000 Voices” — answers the questions being raised in the Church right now.

• Should certain hymns be banned? . . . Yes, but there’s room to pray with them outside of the Mass. Your gift helps us partner with dioceses around the US right now to address these challenges
• Is there such a thing as Catholic praise and worship? . . . Yes, and your generosity helps us open a new studio to create more music that serves the devotional needs of Catholics
• Does the Church have a talent problem? . . . No, the Church has an equipping problem, and with your support, we can open a 2027 Summer Institute in Italy to equip musicians
• Are Catholics divided in musical preference? . . . Yes, perhaps more than ever, and in 2026, you can experience our Meaning of Music film series that promotes discussions that build musical unity
• Is there a way for Catholic families to sing more at home? . . . Yes, there is! In 2026, we are partnering with Word on Fire to publish Melody of the Home: a two-volume book bringing chant, hymns, folk songs, and the psalms into daily home life
