University Catholic Community at UT Arlington

The University Catholic Community at UT Arlington is a ministry that serves the Catholic Students at UTA. We are a in a unique situation in that UTA has over 40,000 students, but many are commuters. Add to this the current statistics about how so many young people in the USA do not attend Church or believe in God, and we have our work cut out for us.

Due to this situation we focus on these areas

1. Evangelization and Catechesis - Events that inspire and settings to go deep. Conferences, Retreats and Small Groups are major ways we connect students to each other, to Jesus and the Church in the service of deepening of their faith. 

We would like to discount SEEK conference fees, retreat and other outreach event costs, and purchasing resources for small groups

2. Leadership Training - The catalyst for our evangelization is training students to have a deep connection to Jesus and the church  and give them strategies to reach out on campus, lead small groups, and take charge of the ministry at UTA.

3 Outreach - EVENTS that are intriguing and thought provoking. “Give aways” for orientations, and FOOD to feed the body. Each of these factors help us connect with students at the surface level in hopes that they will join our ministry to connect to Jesus and community at a deeper level

4. Bibles and Catechisms for OCIA. Even though many young people are turning away from organized religion, every semester we have students who want to become Catholic, or want to catch up on missed sacraments. We currently have 8 students in formation.

5 Building Updates- New blinds for windows in the main room. What does our building say before we say a word? This is a question we ask all the time. Do we have an inviting, clean, neat, organized, fun space for students to find community, pray, and grow in faith. Upgrading the window treatments in the main gathering space would be a big help!
