BLOCS provides need-based scholarships for Philadelphia Area Catholic Schools. In 2022, they used their board of directors and staff as peer-to-peer fundraisers. They created a GivingTuesday Cup for the winner to keep for one year, before handing it over to the next year’s winner. They launched P2P at the September board meeting and sent subsequent individual emails with custom URL, timing, how-to’s, and other FAQ answers. This was pushed again at the November board meeting, which occurred right as Advanced Giving commenced. The top fundraiser in 2022 brought in over $13,000 and the total raised with P2P was $56,315!

In 2022, St. Angela Merici Catholic Church in Metairie, LA raised funds for a multi-use space that all ministries would be able to use. They asked their ministries, “Since you will each benefit from this new building, will you help us raise the money we need to build it?” The winning ministry received a party as the first event in the new building! Parish staff set up each of the ministry’s P2P fundraising pages and distributed the links to the various leaders. Their campaign became more than a fundraiser; it built community within the parish and built pride within individual ministries along with increasing the exposure and awareness of all that the parish offered!

Since 2019, The Diocese of Lafayette Vocations Office has had their seminarians fundraise on their behalf. This has allowed the seminarians to fundraise some of their education by inviting them to be “coworkers in the field” with the people who fund their education. The Vocations Office sees it as a training ground for priests to fundraise which is an essential part of pastor/parish life. In 2024, 117 donors reported to be first time donors to the vocations office!

In 2024, St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton, TX, relied on three volunteers to raise funds for their parish. As an older, rural community that does not regularly use social media, they focused on the traditional communication methods that worked best for them. The team of three volunteers called parishioners, friends, and relatives that lived out of town and asked them to donate. The volunteers were all bilingual, so they were able to communicate with both their English and Spanish communities. At masses, parishioners were encouraged to petition their wider networks for donations. In addition to the calls, the team visited the homebound parishioners and invited them to join in the giving effort. Their initial goal was only $500, but they were able to raise $12,553.00 due to the dedication of a few devoted parishioners!
