Mitchell Schrader’s I Give Catholic Fundraiser

Since my first day at the University of South Carolina, I've been involved as a member of St. Thomas More (STM) Catholic Church. The community immediately welcomed me in, and I felt an instant home as a freshman. Now, fast forward to my senior year, I wish to give back to this place that has been a constant in my life throughout college. I have made several friends here and met countless people who have helped me grow as a person. I have been blessed to be a part of a bible study, lead my own, and help teach others to lead one as well throughout my time here.

I have gone to countless events put on by the generosity of the beneficiaries of STM. Funding goes towards several things, from our Wednesday night campus ministry nights to semi-formals, simply keeping the lights on, and meaningful retreats. One retreat that I always enjoy is SEEK. I have loved going for the last two years and am excited to go again this January! The benefactors of STM have helped make this five-day trip possible for me and several other students, allowing us to grow deeper in our faith lives. 

This upcoming May, I am very excited to take part in a pilgrimage with several of my friends from the senior class to Italy with Father Williams, our pastor. I have been looking forward to potentially taking part in this trip, as I watched all the previous seniors who went on it. Now that it's my class's turn, I am eager for the opportunity to go! A portion of the funding that I help raise for the church will be given to help the trip fund, allowing this pilgrimage to happen for myself and my senior friends.
