THE DOMINICAN SAINTS OF THE CLERESTORY – A CALL TO LIGHT

For more than a hundred years, twelve Dominican saints have looked down upon our parish from the clerestory—silent, steady companions in our journey of faith. Painted around 1915, these canvases reflect the best of Dominican spirituality: preaching, compassion, courage, and a love for the truth of Christ.

“On the east side there is: St. Raymond of Peñafort, wise scholar and guide of souls… St. Antoninus of Florence, friend of the poor… St. Pius V, the pope who rallied Christian Europe at Lepanto… St. Rose of Lima, the Americas’ first canonized saint… St. Catherine of Siena, teacher of the Church… And St. Hyacinth, the fearless apostle who carried the Eucharist to safety.”

And on the west side we find: St. Albert the Great, mentor of St. Thomas Aquinas… St. Agnes of Montepulciano, the mystic with the lamb… St. Catherine de’ Ricci, who shared in Christ’s Passion… St. Vincent Ferrer, fiery preacher of conversion… St. Louis de Montfort, champion of devotion to Mary… And St. Peter Martyr, who gave his life for Christ’s truth.”

But today, these saints—our heritage—are hidden. Their colors, their details, their stories… all lost in the dimness above. Most visitors, and even many parishioners, never see them at all.

This I Give Catholic, we hope to change that. It will cost $550 to illuminate each saint—$550 to bring one of these holy witnesses back into the light. With your help, dedicated lighting will restore their presence, honor our history, and inspire every person who enters our church.

Please consider making a gift. Help us bring these saints back into the light—so their beauty can shine, and their example can inspire generations to come.
