Store U-Knighted

Store U-Knighted is an on-campus resource for Gannon University students in a food emergency. In a confidential and non-judgmental environment, the Store U-Knighted serves students in the Gannon community facing short-term food insecurities by providing free groceries that meet both personal and nutritional needs in a safe and timely manner. Through education, community collaboration, and service the Store U-Knighted seeks to create a sustainable food resource and eliminate barriers to accessing proper nutrition, allowing students to focus on attaining university success. We have served over 160 students in the fall and spring semesters of the 23-24 academic year –seeing significant growth over the past year alone, in the need for the store. 

We collect donations via food and monetary donations. We have donation sites around campus, including the CHESS Dean’s Office, CEB Dean’s Office, Morosky Dean’s Office, Recreation and Wellness Center, and Waldron Campus Center, and these are checked weekly. Physical checks should be made out to GU Advancement and the note should say “Store U-Knighted Donation.” 

All visits to the store are confidential. We have a wide selection of non-perishable food/hygiene items such as, canned fruits and veggies, tuna, mac and cheese, ramen noodles, cereal, pasta, boxed meals, soup, feminine products, body wash, shampoo/conditioner, and toothpaste/toothbrushes. We do not keep expired items. All expired items will be donated to various community food banks for further use. 

The need for these services amongst Gannon students has increased and will continue to grow with the continuing challenges surrounding food insecurity. 

Gannon students, donors, and friends have enabled the Store U-Knighted to rapidly respond to students’ emergency needs.  As the need for these services grows, Store U-Knighted is looking for support to continue growing our space and the number of students we can service each semester.  

Cash donations will help offset items that we need to purchase, including: 

• Non-perishable food items
• Toiletries, such as  toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner and soap
• Special dietary food items
