The Catholic Church Parish of Our Lady of Prompt Succor was established in Chackbay in April 1892. Our church parish has seen over a century of faithfulness from the people of the Louisiana Bayous, has sheltered the weary and served the poor both here and across the diocese. The bones of our church remain very much the same as they have over the years; in an effort to preserve and revive the historical beauty of our parish, our iGiveCatholic campaign for this year supports the restoration of one of the central and essential pieces of our church: our pews.

In these times, when a church has to talk about updates, often it is easier/simpler to just replace the old with new. It is in fact nearly a standard practice, to the point where, after months of searching, we ended up only finding a few firms even willing to entertain the idea of the project. We have, however, found an excellent firm that is willing to work with us to keep this piece of our history alive while also restoring it in order to give greater glory to the Lord and to elevate our worship through the treasures and talents of our people.

To this end, we ask for your support in this endeavor. The restoration of the pews will cost approximately $82,000. We will completed this refinishing project in phases. With the help of this #iGiveCatholic fundraising campaign along with current parish funds, the first phase would include refinishing half of the pews during fiscal year 2025/2026 and the other half will be completed the following fiscal year or as funds become available. Any and all donations, great and small, can help us to accomplish this great task that is, in the end, for the greater glory of God and our sanctification above all else. God bless you, and thank you for your care, support, and prayers!
