William Hebert - Formation Beyond the Seminary

The Diocese of Lafayette covers the essential seminary tuition, but the Church offers additional programs and experiences that complement what we receive within the walls of the seminary.

These experiences require extra funding:

• Annual 5-Day Retreats: Retreats are not just a break, but a time of spiritual renewal. Through this dedicated time of prayer, we strive to anchor our vocation and ministry in a close relationship with the Lord. Every seminarian goes on retreat each year. Retreats cost $1,000 per seminarian.
• COR Expeditions: Twelve days in the wilderness offers seminarians an opportunity to grow in leadership skills, masculine virtues, and dependence on the Lord and one another. These trips cost $3,400 per seminarian.

• Studies Abroad & Spanish Immersion: Language studies and cultural experiences equip future priests to effectively serve our increasingly diverse Catholic community. These experiences foster cultural awareness and language skills, ensuring they can minister to all the faithful in the Diocese. These formation experiences average $5,000 per seminarian.
