The March for Life is more than a rally — it is a pilgrimage. Over the years, priests from the Diocese of Wichita have had the privilege of accompanying pilgrims to Washington, D.C., serving as chaplains and spiritual companions. Along the way, they celebrate Mass, pray during long bus rides, and stand shoulder to shoulder with youth, families, and parishioners as witnesses to the dignity of every human life.
Their presence ensures that the March is not only an outward statement of faith but also a profound encounter with Christ and His Church. When a priest journeys with our young people, something changes. The long hours on the road become opportunities for honest conversations about faith and life. Questions that might otherwise remain silent find a safe place to be voiced. Teens see their priest not only at the altar, but walking beside them, praying with them, laughing with them, and encouraging them to live their faith with courage and joy.
The sacraments offered along the way — especially daily Mass, the Eucharist, and Reconciliation — anchor the entire pilgrimage in grace. Youth often speak of how receiving the sacraments during the March helps them experience a deepened sense of God’s presence and personal call in their lives. For some, these encounters become turning points:
Beyond the sacraments, priests help create a sense of spiritual unity among the group. They remind young people that the pro-life movement is not just about activism—it’s about love, human dignity, and the Gospel of Life. Their presence gives the pilgrimage depth, grounding it in prayer, reverence, and hope.
In many ways, our priests help transform the March for Life from an event into an encounter with Christ — an experience that can awaken vocations, deepen discipleship, and inspire lifelong commitment to defending the dignity of every human person. As we prepare for the 2026 March for Life, we’re committed to raising $25,000 to send 20 priests to Washington, D.C. The generosity of supporters like you will directly fund their travel and ministry, ensuring our diocesan family remains prayerfully and sacramentally rooted during this powerful witness for life. Will you join us?

“Being able to grow closer to my parish priest, Fr. Adam Grelinger, was truly unforgettable. Having late night conversations with him about the faith and having the opportunity to ask him for advice on friendships, and prayer was such a gift. It was one of those experiences I didn't realize how much I needed. It allowed me to see him in a new way and genuinely understand what it meant to have a 'shepherd' and be a part of his flock. The spiritual aspect of the pilgrimage was by far my favorite part.”
-Ava Arriaga, Student - Bishop Carroll Catholic High School
"When a priest comes with us to the March for Life, it’s not just another adult on the bus — it’s our shepherd, our spiritual father, standing beside us. When he prays with us, walks with us, and even suffers the long ride and the cold with us, it shows us that the fight for life is not just our cause as young people, but the mission of the whole Church. Seeing him there gives us courage. It’s one thing to talk about the dignity of life at Mass, but when he is willing to step into the crowd, face the criticism, and march through the streets of Washington with us, it proves that this truth is worth everything. His presence reminds us that we’re not alone, that Christ Himself is with us through our priest. Honestly, when our priest stands with us, it makes me proud to be Catholic. It tells me that the Church doesn’t just tell us to be bold — she leads us into boldness. And when I see my priest living out that courage, it inspires me to do the same, not just at the March, but every single day back home."
-2025 March for Life Pilgrim
“As a priest who has attended the March for Life for 18 years, I love spending time with the youth, from the time on the bus, to touring D.C., to Marching for Life. To see the transformation and excitement in the youth gives me a strong hope for the future of the Church and the Pro-Life movement.”
-Rev. Daniel Duling - Pastor, St. Rose Mt. Vernon
