Cristo Rey Charleston High School will be the 42nd Cristo Rey Model School in the United States and will open its doors to the founding freshman class in August of 2027.
Cristo Rey schools are college preparatory Catholic high schools for students of all faiths. They exclusively serve students with limited economic resources through a unique funding model that integrates a rigorous college preparatory curriculum with a professional work study program.
The Cristo Rey Network of schools has a proven track record. Cristo Rey alumni graduate from college at rates nearly 3X higher than their socioeconomic peers.
All students go to school 4 days a week and work in a professional setting one day in a week, all 4 years of high school. The cost of each student’s education is funded through the work-study program, fundraising and family contributions.
1912 Success Street North Charleston. The home of our future state-of-the-art campus is located within walking distance of a public transportation hub at Rivers Avenue and within a 30-minute travel radius to businesses in North Charleston, Charleston, and the northern suburbs where our students will work.
The building, which was formerly Old Chicora Elementary School, will be renovated to accommodate over 400 students. Highlights include 2 courtyards, an auditorium, an engineering lab, a chapel, a workforce development wing, and classrooms ideal for learning. We continue to raise funds for this major renovation project.
